ON FFEBRUARY 25th. 1989 THE DREAMS AND ASPIRATIONS OF THE GROUP BECAME A REALITY WITH THE OPENING OF OUR NEW SCOUT HALL.

AFTER YEARS OF FUND RAISING: BAG PACKING IN ASDA, RUNNING DANCES, JUMBLE SALES, A "100" CLUB IN WHICH WE RAISED 100 POUNDS EVERY MONTH FOR A FEW YEARS, CAR WASHES, PACKED" LUCKY BAGS" FOR BILLY BOTTERILL'S SHOP AND WE EVEN SOLD SHIRTS AND UNDERWARE (FACTORY SECONDS). WE FINALLY RAISED THE AMOUNT NEEDED TO GO AHEAD WITH THE PROJECT. IT WAS A HUGE UNDERTAKING WHICH INVOLVED EVERYONE THE FROM THE GROUP EXECUTIVE MEMBERS TO THE YOUNGEST CUB.

THE GROUP CAME TO AN AGREEMENT WITH LIVINGSTONE CHURCH AFTER A LOT OF KNOCKBACKS FOR LAND OR PREMISES AROUND BLANTYRE TO HAVE PLANS DRAWN UP FOR A HALL TO BE LOCATED BEHIND THE CHURCH HALL. PAST SCOUT LEADER ROBERT IZETT HAD THE PLANS DRAWN UP.

ALTHOUGH THE BUILDING WAS SITED IN CHURCH GROUNDS, THE CHURCH DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE RUNNING OF THE GROUP. AS A "OPEN" GROUP OVER THE YEARS THE GROUP WELCOMED PROTESTANT, CATHOLIC, INDIAN AND CHINESE FAITHS.
